Expectations for CCH Music Team members
It is expected that everyone on this team:
- has a personal, born-again relationship with Jesus Christ, and is committed to growing in that relationship and being discipled.
- is a committed member of Community Church Hornsby (except for junior members under 16 yrs in which case being committed in attendance will suffice).
- is committed to developing their God-given musical gift, to the glory of God and for His service.
- should have attained a minimum level of competence in their chosen instrument before being able to have a platform ministry role.
Rehearsals:
We are all expected to make every attempt to be on time for any relevant rehearsals. If you are unable to be there at the stated time please contact the leader of that rehearsal (the rostered Worship Leader for that service).
Adult team members (i.e. have graduated from High School) are expected to attend rehearsals for any services for which they are orstered on, as well as to attend the fortnightly general rehearsal and development workshops.

Services:
- Everyone should help set up the stage, mikes, fold-back etc. Vocalists should get in the habit of doing warm up exercises before sound check. Try and make sure all cables are neat and orderly.
- Please refrain from chatting too much during sound-check or while the worship leader is giving instructions.
- Be at your instrument or microphone ready to sing or play several minutes before the programmed start time. Before each service we sometimes need to resist the urge to start chatting to people coming in.
- Stand attentively while announcements and breaks in the worship service occur. Giving whoever is leading your attention helps everyone else do the same, even if it means looking at the back of the screen during “Church News”.
Presentation (General):
What matters most is what is in our hearts, of course, but we all know that our appearance has a big influence on how the message gets communicated.
- Be passionate for God and let it show.
- Let your face, expression and body language show the joy that God has given us. Eye contact with the congregation matters enormously! We should all know the songs well enough that we are not just looking at a music stand or looking sideways at the screen. Worships Leaders note: if you don’t know the song well enough please don’t add it to your set list.
- Girls – skirt hems should always be below the knee and no visible mid-riffs, low-cut blouses/tops (no visible cleavage). Any clothing that is revealing, distracting or draws attention is not desirable. It’s not a fashion show either. These principles of dressing modestly and appropriately apply to all services e.g. Friday night youth, Sunday am etc. They also apply to guys – we’re not there to show off our “glutes”, “lats”, “pecks”, or “guns”. ;-)
Presentation (Sunday AM Service):
- Dress code for Sunday services is smartcasual (NOT ‘average’ or ‘daggy casual’). Plain colours, black or white. Subtle patterns are OK. Collared shirts are preferred. Please don’t wear bold patterns, stripes etc that might be in danger of creating visual clashes on stage.
- Things NOT to wear: hoodies, shorts, thongs (flip-flops for the yanks or poms), sandals (dressy ones for girls are OK), shoes with holes in toes, bare feet, daggy or ripped jeans or revealing clothing. Neat jeans are fine. Get the idea?
After each service:
- Help pack up the sound equipment after all practices or services - keep an eye out for tasks that need doing.
- Place all sheet music back into correct folders promptly after the service.
- Leaders, please remember to replace folders into the cabinet as soon as possible.
- It is in all our interests, as well as being ambassadors of Christ, to leave the school clean and tidy. Better than how we found it if possible (including removal of live possums, eh Adam?!)
