How does the music team fit into the purposes of the church?
The role of every member of the CCH Music team can be summed up in our mission statement, which speaks of God’s call on our lives as followers of Christ, to be “living sacrifices” of worship, to be filled with his Holy Spirit, and to become ministers of His grace:
“...to inspire all people to worship the Lord,
and enter into His presence, His power, and His purposes.”
Worship
In Amos 9:11 God says He will restore “David’s tent” rather than an elaborate temple. He is after a heart-felt response - not an impressive display or adherence to religious traditions.
Music facilitates corporate worship, as it connects very quickly with our soul and emotions and is something the whole congregation can do together. It has a way of focusing our minds, our spirits and our bodies into the one activity of glorifying God. God is magnified and we are humbled.

Ministry
Many times throughout the Bible we see God using music as part of spiritual warfare and prophecy.
Joshua 6:4-5, Judges 7:17-22, Isaiah 30:32, Eph 5:19, 2 Kings 3:15-19, 1 Samuel 16:23
Evangelism
Genuine worship creates an atmosphere that attracts the presence of God; the “fragrance of Christ” that draws people to Himself and speaks to the heart. Music can carry the uplifting message of God’s grace into places, ears and hearts that may never otherwise be open to hear it.
On a practical level we aim to make our services culturally relevant, welcoming and appealing to visitors and “seekers”. Our music plays a vital part in that.
2 Corinthians 2:14-15
Fellowship
Music and singing are central to corporate worship. The experience of a church engaged in true worship is a powerful experience. There is a dynamic experience of God which happens in a church that is unified in worship. There is potential for faith building and life changing encounters with our God who loves His “body”, the Body of Christ.
1 Corinthians 14:26
Discipleship
Music is a fantastic learning tool. Many truths from God’s Word are learned and absorbed in the singing of songs. This highlights the responsibility we have to be singing songs that contain genuine Truth, and don’t just “feel good” or “sound cool”.
